Re: Fan belt replacement

Just to record a similar experience - the battery on my Granvia also kept going flat after 3 or 4 days during January 2018. I had the battery checked, and the alternator performance - both were OK. The mechanic noticed that the alternator drive belts were 'bouncing around quite a bit' and could be s...

Re: Electrical Failure

Hi Dave. I hope you have sorted out the problem with the electrics. If not, I had a similar problem (all the electrics dead) - it turned out to be a blown alternator fuse. See this link: http://www.toyota-granvia.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1991&p=6284#p6284

Re: Torque and mpg

Hi Richard (and Grandad). I'm also puzzled by Grandad's comments (below) "Have noticed better mpg when staying around 100km, but dont have the numbers. My lock-up appears to be around 80km. In order to save on fuel, you should know the worst mpg is from a stop to get going. In order to slow dow...

Re: Torque and mpg

Hi Grandad. I had the same problem with the cigarette lighter not working. Some cigarette lighters do not have a 'normal' type fuse - instead they have a 'fuseable link' in the wiring at the bottom, underside, of the lighter unit. You will have to replace the lighter unit or repair the 'fuseable lin...

Re: Torque and mpg

Hi, Richard. I’ve only had my Granvia for 4 months. Not sure what ‘spec’ it is – but it’s a 3.0 litre turbo diesel, 7 seats, electric curtains, 2 sunroofs (one manual, one electric), digital display for cab heater controls, and alloy wheels with 215/65 R15 tyres. I’ve just done a run down a local ‘A...

Re: Cab temperature control

Hi, Josh.
I think that you've probably 'hit the nail in the head' with your suggestion re the pollen filters!

Re: Cab temperature control

Hi, Richard. The Toyota Townace that I refer to above was the only vehicle I have had, previously, that had A/C. On that vehicle, it was not necessary to have the A/C on, to have cool air blown out at face level - It was possible to have the A/C off and the heater on, and still have COOL (or AMBIENT...

Re: Torque and mpg

Hi Richard. Thanks for the above info and your thoughts on the matter. Recently, I have done quite a bit of motorway driving and, because my wife doesn’t like me ‘speeding’, I have taken to keeping behind (and doing the same speed as) the numerous lorries and wagons that keep to the inside lane. The...

Re: Cab temperature control

Thanks Josh. While on this point - I have owned several Japanese motors over the years, including a Toyota Townace (early forerunner to the Granvia?), and it was possible with all of them to have hot air blown into the footwell while, at the same time, having cold air coming from the face vents. I r...

Torque and mpg

Hi all. Has anyone worked out what the optimum speed is, when cruising on a motorway, to achieve the maximum mpg? Obviously, you will use more fuel the faster you go, but will there be any noticeable difference between travelling at 60 mph, 65mph or 70 mph. Also, if there are any mechanics on the fo...
