Re: Steering wheel swap

hi Dave

That looks a great improvement over the stock crummy wheel from the hiace van.

Any special procedures for dealing with the airbag - I'm presuming just disconnect battery before starting the job

Cheers

Re: Fan belt replacement

Hi Frank You can get to the alternator bolts (which only need slackening a tad not fully out) without removing the air box, but the bottom one is a bit fiddly so removing the box (which is simple enough) might make things easier You don't need to take the fan or top guard off - once the belts are fr...

Re: Fan belt replacement

Hi there The duplex drive belts for alternator, and the single one for the Aircon both have a neat adjustment system which does away with the usual way of prying the alternator out to get the right belt tension and then trying to nip the bolts up without it all loosening off again. Just loosen the t...

Re: Fault code 14

If the vehicle was running OK when you left it two years ago - it would be a huge coincidence if within a few miles of driving now you would suddenly have a problem down to incorrect pump timing or cracked cylinder head etc Common sense suggests that it is related to being stood for two years, and t...

Re: Wiper pump switch won't pull

Re: Wiper pump switch won't pull

The whole stalk should move TOWARDS you (as if you were flashing the headlights on the other stalk) to make front washers work - it doesn't pull out along the line of the stalk. If it really doesn't move in this plane, then somethings gone very wrong at the base of it or maybe a small piece of somet...

Re: Jack points and stand locations

The jacking points are on the sill immediately behind the front wheel on either side, and immediately before the rear. You will see a reinforced little platform in each place which ends in roughly the same shape as the cradle on the standard scissor jack. You can safely use a trolley jack on these t...

Re: Transmission failure diagnosis

Not sure there's much that can be done as a sure-fire prevention on the other shaft other than to replace it as a precaution. It might be possible to have a good pull around of the shaft to see if the splines have begun to loosen - but it does seem that when they go they go fairly suddenly. Given th...
