Re: wheel sizes to fill the arches

The wheels came with the van from Japan - I think they were a factory option, as they are made by JIL who make OE stuff for loads of jap cars and bikes.

I think they are 7J width (might be 6.5) with a moderately negative offset, but I will have a proper measure at the weekend

Re: wheel sizes to fill the arches

I have 225/60 x 16 on mine, and they look really good, but the rolling circumference is essentially unchanged from the standard 70 profile 15 inchers, so speedo accuracy and gearing still fine. 60 profiles are a good compromise of better handling but still give a reasonable ride. I think it's possib...

Re: Radiator roller blind.

Hmmm - most interesting

I reckon that must be an aftermarket or option kit.

I changed the radiator on mine, and didn't notice anything like that - but I'm gonna have a closer look though.tp

Re: Brake Servo

Does sound like the servo - I've had problems on a Vauxhall with the rear pads sticking in the calipers which made the pedal feel harder (but not excessively). It sounds like your guy has checked all that sort of stuff though. If it were a diesel i would suggest checking the vacuum pump - I've had t...

Re: Steering wheel swap

hi Dave

That looks a great improvement over the stock crummy wheel from the hiace van.

Any special procedures for dealing with the airbag - I'm presuming just disconnect battery before starting the job

Cheers

Re: Fan belt replacement

Hi Frank You can get to the alternator bolts (which only need slackening a tad not fully out) without removing the air box, but the bottom one is a bit fiddly so removing the box (which is simple enough) might make things easier You don't need to take the fan or top guard off - once the belts are fr...

Re: Fan belt replacement

Hi there The duplex drive belts for alternator, and the single one for the Aircon both have a neat adjustment system which does away with the usual way of prying the alternator out to get the right belt tension and then trying to nip the bolts up without it all loosening off again. Just loosen the t...

Re: Fault code 14

If the vehicle was running OK when you left it two years ago - it would be a huge coincidence if within a few miles of driving now you would suddenly have a problem down to incorrect pump timing or cracked cylinder head etc Common sense suggests that it is related to being stood for two years, and t...
