Granvia Vs Hiace?

Postby iski123 » 08 Feb 2018, 06:37

I live in Canada and am looking to import a van for a 1 year construction project, it will also see farm use as well. Hopefully a camper conversion in the future.

I was originally looking at a Hiace Grand cabin (or anything with a high roof option) but in a bare bones so I can strip it for the initial construction phase

I really like the look of the Granvia Ambulance which looks like a super high top.... most come with 3.4l V6 (which is actually a fairly common engine over here so should be easier to maintain) It is also known as one of the best ones Toyota has made (for this market at least)

My questions to this group would be what are the main differences between the Hiace and Granvia? Reliability? interior dimensions (longer and wider is better for my purposes)? Ride quality? Off road capability?

What year do you mean ?

I have never seen a Hiace Grand Cabin. Do you mean Toyota Hiace Super Custom ?
Take a look there http://hiace-super-custom.free-boards.net/?utm_medium=ForumLinks&utm_source=ToyotaOwnersClub

In Europe Hiace mainly exists as a power van, popular between builders, carpet fitters etc.
Comparing Europen Hiace with Granvia (or Grand Hiace which is the same) different engines were used, no 3.4 V6 or 3.0D engines with ordinary Hiace, interior is different and Granvias are much better equipped than Hiace.
Parts are mainly compatible, excluding 4x4 Granvias and body parts like windows, some lights.

Good choice 3.4 V6 8-) :D
Grand Hiace V6 2001
