AC Fluid help!

Postby Shansaxe » 20 Jun 2017, 16:28

Hi All!

This is my first post, I just bought a second hand Granvia and it is my baby tank! My first car as well, I am such a proud parent. BUT, it is in need of some serious TLC and without a manual provided this is proving a bit difficult.

I need to take it for the AC to have a check and fluid top up to get it working again, but what type!? Halfords need that info as they don't know, anyone have the answer? :?

Welcome to the forum!

On my '95 diesel Granvia, there's a bright yellow label in the engine compartment (just above the brake fluid reservoir) which says the refrigerant is "R134a".

Have a look at this thread

and also
Hi, do you know that aircon pressure on granvias is 8-15 psi and not 25-35 psi as on uk vans if you get them re gassed they will put 30 psi in them and they will leak like mad from the expansion joints. if you fill to around 12 you will get good constant run on compressor above 20 and it will cycle with cut in and out and fan run and give you unstable revs possibly to the extent that it will cause stall at idle!!!

You are both legend, thanks! And cheers for the tip about psi max, that's something I wouldn't have thought of, I can go to the chap at Halfords fully armed now. Glad I joined this forum :D
