I may have asked this question on here some time ago but not sure so I will try again.
We have had a Granvia, converted by Wellhouse into a campervan, for 4 years. Which we love.
However every winter the same fault develops. This makes us believe it's an issue with cold or damp electrics.
The first thing we noticed was the car battery went flat a couple of times the first winter we had it. We put this down to a possible old battery or acidently leaving a light on. ( which i was sure i hadn't) at this point I drove the van most days so it didn't happen often.
However by the next winter I wasn't driving to work so the camper stood for several days and the batter flattened several times.
After a few times I noticed that the central locking seemed to be getting stuck in a loop and would repeatedly click on and off untill the battery flattened. ( took a while to persuade mechanic and husband that this was the case and not me leaving things on!)
It was taken to an auto electrition who suggested it may be a fault with the autowatch alarm and disconnected it. Leaving the origional toyota central locking and alarm working. This was at the end of the winter so seemed to solve the issue.
However the following winter it all started again. Again we had it looked at by an auto electrition who kept it for a few days so it could stand and develop the problem, as once driven to be looked at it stops doing it. Again no problem could be found. (I think they think we're mad!)
So far this winter it is developing the central locking loop everytime it's not driven for a couple of days. We now manage this so haven't had any flat batteries. If it has been stood we listen for the doors repeatedly locking and unlocking, if they do we open the doors and start it up as quickly as we can. If we then allow it to run untill well warmed up or we drive it around it solves the problem and we can lock it safely. Luckily we have had no problems while camping as we only tend to do odd nights in winter.
My father in law suggested it could be a damp ecu (I think) and I have, from the start of the problem, said it was something in the electrics getting damp.
I was wondering if anyone had had a similar problem or if anyone could point me in the direction of what part of the electrical system would be at fault so I can get someone to fix it.
Or is there a specialist Auto electrition that could be recommended to look at it. Preferably close to Huddersfield.

My central locking does the same when I lock it with the key but if I lock it with the switch on the inside of the drivers door and hold the outside door handle in the open position when I close the door all is ok.
Some Granvias suffer from an unexplained battery drain where, if the vehicle is left standing for a few days, the battery has discharged enough that there's insuffiecient power left to start the engine (and the diesel engine needs a lot of power to turn-over when starting in cold weather). You may have one of these Granvias - I've certainly got one, which has a continuous drain of 200mA. My "solution" is to simply disconnect the negative lead to the battery whenever the Granvia is going to be left standing; other owners have installed a battery isolator. The downside of this solution is that the Granvia will lose all its radio settings etc and any alarm won't be powered.

I don't know if this helps but I am on my second Granvia, they both came with the wrong battery as recommended so assume that the majority are sold likewise, both came with lower amperage and amp hour batteries which are ok in warmer climes or our summer and even mild winters but to get peace of mind when the battery on the first Granvia (1995 4wd) failed I fitted the correct one and there was an improvement to the cranking speed and starting performance, I changed the battery on the second Granvia (2000 2wd) before winter set in as a matter of course just for peace of mind although I havent had any starting problems ( car has been broken down for 4 weeks and started no problem when fixed this weekend just gone, see timing control valve). The correct batteries are the 335 batteries - 95 AH 700 ACC. But the amount of problems people have can't all be down to battery problems but that is a good place to start.
Also I had a problem with the glow plug connector to the left passenger footwell on the first granvia which meant that more engine cranking was required to start the engine which means the battery and starter take the strain and sometimes it required a jump start, cured with new connector, I just used a block connector.
